Life as a Lemon Multicultural Short Film Competition
Mission and Objective:
Life as a Lemon Productions is a multicultural production company committed to creating
and promoting diverse film, theatre, and artwork in the heart of New York. Our goal is a
commitment to energizing and thought-provoking stories that encourage common and
uncommon interest in the many cultures within our society.
We organize film screening and competition events that uphold the ideas of
multiculturalism. We aim at building a forum for producers and interested individuals to
share and improve their understanding of various multicultural issues.
About the Competition:
We are currently seeking submissions for our film festival to be held on December 12,
2008. All films will be screened by competition judges. FOUR of the judge’s picks for
Best Short Film will be screened at the Life as a Lemon Multicultural Film Festival at the
Manhattan World Culture Open in New York, NY.
At the festival, each audience member will receive comment cards and be asked the rate
the film. The film receiving the highest ratings will be announced as the winner and
receive $100.00 prize money.
Film Content Guidelines:
The Life as a Lemon Multicultural Short Film Competition seeks films that adhere to the
values and principles of our mission statement. Films must showcase diversity and
provide a general interpretation of the following definition:
mul•ti•cul•tur•al•ism
n. 1. The state or condition of relating to, or including several cultures. 2. The state
or condition of relating to a social or educational theory that encourages interest in
many cultures within a society rather than in only a mainstream culture. – Abridged by

Categories of Entry:
SHORTS: NARRATIVE FICTION, ANIMATION &
DOCUMENTARY: All genres are accepted with a running time of minimum three
minutes and a maximum running time of 30 minutes.
Submission Guidelines:
1. Entries must include TWO copies in DVD format only.
Blu-Ray will not be accepted.
2. Region free DVDs (NTSC or PAL) are preferred.
3. DVDs and cases must be labeled with film title,
filmmaker name, phone, and email address.
4. All Non-English foreign films, must include English subtitles.
5. Submission must include:
a. Detailed synopsis of the film.
b. Biography and filmography of director.
c. DO NOT SEND PRESS KIT unless requested.
6. Entry fee is $12 per film entered. Make checks and money order
payable to Life as a Lemon Productions.

8. If your film is selected, you will be asked to send PRESS KIT
with press clippings, one 8 ½ by 10 hardcopy photograph, and one
high resolution digital from the film to be used at Life as a Lemon’s
discretion. Film posters are optional and may be substituted for
hardcopy photograph.
9. Entry fee is non-refundable and submissions will not be returned.
10. ENTRY DEADLINE: Must be received by November 24, 2008.
Entries postmarked will NOT be accepted if received after deadline.
